Why Twitter is the Future

Published by Bob at 8:38 pm under Twitter Basics Edit This

One Word

There is one word I use to describe why Twitter is the Future:

Niebu.

You see, Niebu is an Internet meme, like “All Your Base” “Leroy Jenkins” or the dancing baby from so many years ago. Niebu began one cold spring morning when James Chartrand of Men With Pens tried to type “mornin” to his followers and friends. Both hands were just one key off, and instead of “morning” he typed “Niebu.”

Niebu is different from those other memes, though. Niebu means good morning, of course, but it also means community, the way of the world, and even what’s for dinner.

Why Niebu Means Twitter is the Future

Niebu is not only the latest Internet meme, it is also the most community-oriented.  It can be understood by anyone with any ethnic origin, level of technical expertise or interest area.  In short, Niebu is the embodiment of Web 2.0.  But without Twitter, a completely social tool, Niebu would never have been written.  Twitter, like Niebu, means community. Twitter is universal. Twitter, like the blog, can serve any purpose from promoting a product to talking with friends to sharing recipes.

If the Blog typifies Web 2.0, Twitter typifies Web 2.5.

Indeed. I first came across Twitter over a year ago when Scott Kurtz of PvP jumped on. I couldn’t get into it back then, but it really stuck this time. I find that seems to be the most common experience.

    Welcome, by the way!
